Thread: BlueScreen of Death

Hello, I've got a big problem,,after i've used my comp 1-2 hours sometime 15-30 mins ....then it came up Bluescreen of death i don't know what the problem is...i have Formated my Hardisk 3 times but the bluescreen problem is still there can anyone help me ? thx

post up the number that comes after STOP, it'll be something like 0x000000D1 etc. post the whole string of numbers btw.

okey...where should i look for it btw i got vista

yeh but the bluescreen are just there in 2-3 sec how can i remember it?

Since you cannot lookup the code you should start testing your RAM and HDD.

You can use Memtest for the RAM, you need to either burn it on a CD, put it on a FDD or go for the USB version.
The FDD and USB versions require a little knowledge of DOS to start it while with the CD you just have to boot of it.
Let the program do a couple of runs and see if it gives any errors.

To test the HDD (if the RAM isn't faulty) you need to know which brand you got, when you know that you can use the correct brands HDD test utility which are supplied on Hiren's Boot CD.

Those two are a good place to begin.

You have an 32 bit OS don't you?
The lack of RAM showing is not the cause of the BSOD's.

Yeh i have a 32 bit OS

Simply said the OS is to blame for the missing RAM and the only way to get around that is a 64 bit OS as it supports more RAM.

so what do you say i must do? to fix my bluescreen problem and the RAM problem? ^^

Did you change anything recently (drivers, bios settings or hardware)?
Is there any kind of pattern as to when you get the error? (application, files moved or anything like that)

Security posted links to memtest and hirens boot cd they are a good place to start trouble shooting the problem.

For what its worth the stop code appears to be hardware related however they are not always reliable when fault finding, your going to need to diagnose by process of elimination.

Edit* to make full use of the RAM you have you will need a 64bit OS. (but this is not causing the issue and has no relation to it)

Download either Hirens boot cd, or trinity rescue kit.

First thing to do is rule out a virus or trojan.
Both softwares need to burned on a cd/dvd.
So download them at a friends place or work/school, and burn the iso file to dvd.
Insert the dvd and boot from it.
After you are booting from dvd/cd, run the anti virus software on it.

If your completely clean then it might be either a bad driver or faulty hardware.

Can you tell us the spce of the computer or laptop? Model if there is one on the laptop or computer if its a pre built e.g HP or Dell

Anything done recently before all this happened?

Temperatures and voltages if possible (use everest or similar)

Well i didn't do anything before this happen so i really don't know whats the problem with it....but i gonna do that that security said...but if it dosen't what i do then?

Try and post up all your specs that i said.

Give us as much detail about your computer as possible and then we can start to narrow down the issue.
