Thread: Lag Problems

i got a problem whith freeze lag on few games like css, eve online, pirates of burning sea... some time back i used to play css alot and never had these lag problems, whith the time i got serious lag problems in form of freeze lag in css, i formated my c drive where i had css installed, updated drivers for my graphic card, and re installed css, now my computer was alot faster while out in windows but... when i started css i still had the same problem whith freeze lag... how can i get rid of it, do i have to formate my d drive too? c and d is on same harddrive? plz help me somone, ps: i got graphic bugs in the game too =/ movies etc works fine and old games like diablo2 and warcraft3 works fine =/

you will need a css config to get better fps, are you using wireless internet? if not then i'm guessing there's an overheating problem caused by too much dust around the cpu and graphics card.
try opening your case to check if there's dust, if there is you need to buy a can of compressed air and use it to blow off the dust from the components

it could also be a virus/spyware so you should save your work and format everything, good luck.

Could you describe the graphics bugs your seeing or better still screenshot them and post them here?

other than that agree with sage but the graphical anomolies could also suggest a failing gpu.

need more description of the graphics bugs and also 1 gig of ram is a bit small now a days.

Heat is my first thought so check for dust and if your confident mite be an idea to rip off the heatsinks and apply some better thermal compound

The only thing I can see wrong with that is RAM. I had the nVidia 6800 and AMD 3800+ up to last year (but with 2GB ddr RAM) and CSS always ran perfectly.

1GB is fine for his spec, he's using xp so there's no need to buy another 1GB

i found out what the problem was, probley some kind of virus/maleware, i removed all porn on the computer and now its run perfectly =)

Not sure if that was just bad english or whatever but just by removing porn it won't make any difference unless ofc you hard drive was jam packed full of it and it was fragmented all over the place, regardless glad the problem has been resolved.

bump. now the problems is back in css, freeze lag than it run normaly few secounds. when the lag goes off i see ammo weapons etc like i just bought it, the weapon load etc like when the spawn time goes off. i tried to remove the dust inside my computer, and all parts in my comp is formated =/

When was the last time you opened up the computer to clean it out?

What sort of temps have we got on the GPU, CPU and Motherboard?

i did clean it up few days ago, the thing is that i start css and play 20 min whith no problem, then it starts freezelag, when i restart steam and css the problems are gone in 20 min again

i did even defrag my harddrive, how do i check cpu temp?

If you play for 20 minutes and it then starts freezing it sounds a lot like its overheating especially if your scans are coming back clean and your drivers are up to date.

now i have done a totaly clean up in my computer, was some dust on the cpu cooler etc. im not sure yet but i think it worked
