I agree with FM on this post. I actually 'slipped away', didnt say a thing, installed steam last month but i dont play it much. its just there for the boredom. Even when im bored and i play, it makes me even more bored tho. I never got a "wheres aky gone too?" or anything but i dont mind, i do think that the whole counter-strike online stuff is a really big load of steaming shit but its addictive, for some people anyway. I play it and i will be owning 1min thinking yeah this owns, i will get killed by the dude with 0-16 for the whole map and think, THIS IS CACK. You think whats the point? I know you werent posting a wah thread salad because its how u feel and it sux tbh coz u meet some sound people on this game, well mostly on FM And you probably wanna share it with them and get help (not sayin ur like an addictive cs psycho whore)If you slip out, you will get into something else maybe another game maybe something in 'RL' as people say. I always used to think "remember its only a game no matter how many ppl you know and are good friends with, you will probably never meet them" and id rather be doin somethin with my mates/family or whatever else other than being online" The internet has taken over so many lives of my 'RL' friends, used to be supercool :P and now sit on their asses on CoD or CS or BF .. If you feel like having a break or quitting then do it and dont let anythin else stop you, if you leave a post about leaving it will make you want to come back, it always happens. If you leave people will miss you and if you come back but dont play much like i do, it feels better than it used to be. Maybe its different in your situation but i just fucked it off for a few months, installed it and go on it when someone asks me for a game if im up for it or if theres nothing else to do. If this post makes no sense at all, its the drugs talking. xx | |

You stated as I would have done but you did it nicely. I think we admins think alike.

Wise Guy ![]() ![]() ![]() My Mood: | I'm with you both Wombat and Salad, it's the same shape as the philosophy of Allen Carr, he of the best-selling stop smoking book. If you stop doing something just because you feel like you should, and you feel like you're making a sacrifice then whatever that thing should be (fags, CSS, sausage and egg mcmuffins) you'll be miserable without it, yearn for it, and in all likelihood end up doing it even more than you used to. However, if you get to the stage when you realise something is no longer giving you any benefits or making you happy then 'giving it up', as you say Wombat, is no longer a big deal. You go quietly because you don't mind that you're not smoking/playing/eating your daily intake of fat before 9am, in fact you're quite pleased that you're not doing it! |

Gangster ![]() | Good post Salad. I am certainly considering my retirement from the game. For me, the best buzz that I have got from CSS is playing in 5v5s when the teamwork clicks, or when something that you've trained actually comes off in a match. If I could get that feeling every time I turn on the game I wouldn't do anything else. But the bullshit side of the game - finding like-minded players, clanning up etc, has just about defeated me I think. With all due respect to FM, the obsession of 99% of players seems to be their kpd on public servers, which to be frank bores the shite out of me, isn't what I find interesting about the game, and is no measure of the quality of a CSS player. I equate it to never stepping beyond the driving range in golf and actually playing a proper round... |

+1 i don't think you can ever retire from CSS really. People play CSS almost as a hobby, and something you enjoy, and you don't just give up somethign you enjoy, like people say, you just drift away from it until a day comes when you get back in

Hitman ![]() ![]() | Indeed you can only stop playing when you don't feel the urge to play. I'm having a break for a while, but still if i would have a chance of playing again (full time) i would do that. I m just addicted to games ... when i play a new game i will get addicted to that one. That just fucks up my RL tbh. Thats why i took serious measures and throw my pc away (put it with a friend) en start using my laptop where i cant play games on. Hope this addiction will get over sometimes because its a real bitch. Maybe when i go to work it will go over. Just saying its a good post salad. Maybe i ll be slipping away eventually. Grtz L |
