Not only the access times but also the burst rate will increase (forgot to mention the last).
The access time is how fast the HDD finds a file (when having allot of small files you will notice the biggest difference). The burst rate is how fast it copies files (how many Mbps). RAID is ofter a pretty cheap solution to increase the overall performance of your PC as the HDD speeds are often a bottleneck in a system. Quote:

All my pc's have a RAID setup, for the reasons Security mentioned!
You DO feel the difference between RAID and single disk setup! If you dont have the budget to buy "Raptor" disks (10.000rpm) or the newer "Velociraptor", buy 2 smaller Sata2 disks and make a RAID-setup! You will see a noticable speed increase of your pc. |
