Gangster ![]() | My patience is wearing VERY thin at the moment!! I've had my replacement drive installed now for about 4 days, all WAS working fine untill a BSOD appeared with the message KERNAL_IN_PAGE_ERROR (or something along those lines) researched, and AGAIN were pointing at the HDD...so i thought WTF surely not, i started suspecting the motherboard instantly then, and after various cable changes with SATA and POWER cables i started changing thing's on the motherboard, and finally after swapping from the basic SATA 1 port to RAID SATA 1 port on the motherboard and still getting the error and non booting OS i decided to start blaming the HDD again, and after running the HD tune you linked me too for the WD drive, the test found 5 bad blocks, so ive sent a message to overclockers, he told me to run the diagnostic from Seagate which i have tried to do...ran the Seatools for windows version, all of which fail INSTANTLY (i'm guessing it's because the HD tune find a bad block on the 1st bit) even tryed the DOS bootable version and get the same results! Please someone tell me this is just a BIG coincedence and i've been given a HDD that's bad and giving the same errors and fails as the WD raptor, or is there a possible OTHER fault that is causing bad blocks on the drives? (i want to make absolutly sure there's nothing else causing these errors as it's starting to cost me a fortune in postage costs lol) Forgot to also mention i've managed to send off the WD Raptor under warranty, as it was valid, i put the wrong code in before =P Last edited by AzTr!cKy^; 15-10-2008 at 12:44 AM. |

Gangster ![]() My Mood: | Yep - from what you've said, definetly coincidence - I think Security already said this, but it only takes a tiny piece of dust on the surface of the drive to cause bad sectors... While HDD's are probably the most reliable piece of kit in your PC as a general rule, you've just been unlucky in getting another bad one... Good that the Raptor is still under warranty though (you might get really lucky here - if the Raptor that broke on you is no longer in production, they'll likely send you a bigger one to replace it ) |

Gangster ![]() | Thank you very much, you guys have been a very big help!! Ive recieved an RMA for the Seagate drive from overclockers, so it's deffinatly the HDD if they think so aswell =( ahh well i'll get there in the end, however i may have to strap TNT to the computer if it happens again with another HDD lol. Again thanks for the input, i realise information nowdays aint free lol, which is why i'm glad techies in forums such as fragmasters are willing to give a helping hand for a simple thanks =D It's not all about the money to all people thank god! |
