re-activate windows

every time i install updated video card drivers i have to re-activate windows (hardware changes message),its not really a problem coz it does it fine but it is ****ing annoying so is there a fix for it or do i just have to put up with it.

What do you mean re-activate with hardware changes message? Ive never had this i dont think... :S

a message come up saying

'since the installation of winxp pro64 there have been significant hardware changes made to this machine blah blah (cant remember the rest) you must re-activate windows within 3 days etc etc'

or something along those lines,i never really read it all.

and how do you re-activate windows? Is this windows thinking that you've pretty much changed your machine apart from the HDD that its installed on?

its activated over the internet i just follow the instructions,and yes to the other part of your question,new memory + new video card.

Shock horror that i should ever imply that anything to pass through your hands is not 100% bonafide paid for mik, but is the software strictly legal? ^^

yes it is something about hardware ids.. if they changed you need to reactivate windows.
i guess you own a OEM windows mik.. that happens pretty much to some of our officeboxes..

baha, the reactivation process is rly easy and comfortable.
normally you simply need to click on a button and its done by itself.. like transmitting data to ms and backwards... reactivated.
i tried out the reactivation by phone too.. and it been pretty easy, doesnt take more than 5mins.

yes it sucks.. and no i am sorry mik, i got no idea how to get rid of that reactivation. maybe there's a fix from windowsupdate. just research a bit at the ms sites.. search for some KBxxxx files/hotfixes.

if you google this than you get loads and loads of people who had the same problem... its a common problem with vista, but with some people it causes them to get reduced possibilities in windows due to it being activated too many times.
I think the best way to help you solve this if you could tell us what hardware we are precisely talking about, since I find different solutions for this problem depending on brand/type/age/sex/location
