sec hand graphics card

im buying a secondhand graphics card for my pc as my current one is poo! it has to be agp

so if anyone can give me an idea of what to look for it'd be great! cant be too expensive tho as money is pretty tight

with agp you have to find out what kind of AGP socket is on the board as there are a few dif types of socket agp x2, agp x4 agp x8 or sumit like that. but each of them are dif voltages and arent reli compatable with each other and you run the risk of damaging the card and board if you put the wrong card in.

when i get my replacement nvidia card back, you may buy that off me if ud like?

The one im sending back is a Nvidia 9600 GT, but since they dont make it no more, and dont supply it, i'll be getting a similar card, nvidia.

I have no use for it due to buying a Asus HD 4870

9600 = agp, where do you buy?

i would be interested in that as well Garner,but only if midjit isnt,i dont want to be jumping the q here.

i'll have to check if my mobo supports it first.

dont think it does,it doesnt say anything about agp on the specs page.this is what it says.

Midjit, bear in mind that a new graphics card will make next to no difference to your PCs performance in games like CS:S. You'll need to update your processor for that.

I went straight from a Geforce 4 to a Geforce 8600gt, and it made almost no difference to the fps i was getting because CSS is such a CPU dependant game.

Best CPU around for price-performance.

and can be overclocked to 3.0ghz on air cooling with a load temp of 50 degrees

Have one of these badbois in my comp, superb

I dont know what GFX card ill get back, as soon as i do, ill let you know
