Thread: name change ban

same as others i see, i just changed the extension on my name and insta-banned. i occasionally visit your server because i like the map and as my favourite class is kritz medic this is a perfect map for me. however, as an admin myself on our servers, i am at a loss to understand how an instant ban is the right thing to do for nothing more than changing your name. we have theme nights on our servers which, going by your rules, would mean all our regs would be instantly banned for nothing more than matching their names to our themes. going from the others posts i see i am not the only person caught out like this, so if you are going to exact a punishment like this for people who are just joining your servers and want to switch their name, it may be an idea to find a way to warn them first rather than ban and wait for the appeal. i will be removing your server from my favourites list now -although i doubt you would worry about that, but if you are concerned about hackers consistently changing their names in game it would be an idea to wait at least until they have fully joined and started doing it before the ban -just to make sure you are catching the right people and not innocent gamers

it would have appeared to have expired already. like I said I visit every now and then and was slightly shocked by the ban when I had not been rude, cheated, abused any players or any of the other things that people generally deserve to get banned for. I deliberately did not ask for my ban to be removed as I felt it was wrong in the first place - and I am what I would call "a random" on this server rather than a reg so not coming back would not make a lot of difference to the regs on fragmasters anyway. however if it has been taken off now I may pop back when I feel like blowing a lot of people up with the help of a sticky demo.
