Checked this game on youtube, figures I confused it with the dead light, arcade without need-to-think element, it has high latency for keyboard in windows, sum levels very hard to complete due to this bug. As for dying light, can't think about chets which would help in your situation: it could be that such difficults are parts of the plot so chetting them could ruin it in some ways. May be it's an imperative that you'll be runnin away like hell, kinda skill for next levels. I'd recommend to check youtube walkthroughs if you stuck completely, beware of spoilers though.
a cheter on singleplayer is a chet on multiplayer...
I meant pre-installed chet codes, like sv_chets 1 + god in halflife. Does the game has same enviroment with MP? How does it work: can you meet other players in free-zone (outside of camps, for ex)? What about antichet system, VAC or PunkBuster? If you take out ethernet cable (or turn off wifi) while playing, what happens?

Ah, guess no one knows nowadays how to rip out game's insides.
Nevermind, then, as for your first implication about
enemies thatll eat your arse in seconds if you dont wimp out and run like fuck
I looked more into it and - well, that's teh actual gameplay: instead of creativly killing zombies, you'd better run away from them. Same thing I didn't like in singularity: when you're hitting the enemy with, say, big knife right into their chest aaaand - yes, they're still moving like nothing happened. IRL you could break their legs and get off, but noo it wud be too easy. Kinda stupid for the modern game. Story plot is interesting enough to keep playin, though, I wudn't play it twice like I did with teh Skyrim, Gothic, Stalker, etc. I think it's a mix of the mirror edge + assasin creed + zombies, not very bad, but certanly nothing special. Reminds me of the bulletstorm, actually.

levelled up a bit now and the game does improve dramatically (from the players pov), actually chopped a zombie clean in half from head to toe, another laugh out loud moment.

finally got around to finishing this, and The Following dlc (which introduces driving), although that has 2 endings and i only did one and havent finished all side misions, and have to say despite my earlier slight misgivings ive really enjoyed it. it remains a challenge throughout and the challenge steps up considerably in The Following dlc. i would highly recommend this if you can stick with it through the tough early part of the game until you level up, pro-tip - run away. its still £39.99 on Steam (£19.99 on cdkeys) and the season pass is £23.99 (£15.99 on cdkeys) but i only bought The Following dlc £15.99 (£11.99 on cdkeys) seperately as i have no interest in the masochistic Bozak Horde dlc.
